Hello everyone,
I was recently offered a store manager position after attending a manager job fair as an external candidate.
I have over 11 years of management experience, all in the finance/credit card business and have managed from 15-35 people at a time.
My question is based on salary ranges. I understand that Starbucks starting store manager pay range is $38K. I make over $47K now in my field.
I was not expecting to be low-balled when I was job offered, but sure enough, I was. After attempting to negotiate, I was told that the highest they could offer is $39,500.
I am looking at the big picture as far as benefits, etc.. but I have great benefits and insurance with my current employer.
If the growth within Starbucks is great, I might consider taking the low salary with the intention of doing my very best to move up as fast as possible.
Is Starbucks really not able to offer management applicants with many years experience a better starting pay? Should I try to negotiate more even though I was told that 39.5 was the absolute highest?? I even asked them if they could at least offer $43, but to no avail. How often are store managers reviewed for an increase?
Any thoughts please?
Thanks for the info.

If you want a better salary do not work at Starbucks ... their managers are paid below average against other retail.
