Starbucks Forum:

Hey, I just applied at 5 Starbucks today...so hopefully one of them will hire me. Anyway, if I do get hired, I have a couple of small 2 day trips planned later in the winter. Is it easy to get time off of work? Should I inform my manager long beforehand, or should I wait and see what my schedules are that week and try to switch around shifts.

Also, one of my trips is very important, and if I am not able to get off work, I will have to quit. So, if it does come to that (and I really really hope it doesn't), when you say that it's Starbucks policy to not give reference...does that mean they will not tell the next place (even if it's another starbucks) what happend and why I quit?

Thanks a lot,

-Jacob

Make sure you let them know right away. If they're going to be within a month of your interview, I'd say let them know then. Two mall trips shouldn't be a problem. Good luck and hope you get the job!

Regarding Starbucks' policy not to give reference---they will give reference within the company. But they will not give reference to other employers' inquiries; rather, Starbucks will just verify what position you had and what dates of employment (and possibly what position you had and what your rate of pay was, but I am not quite sure what the official Starbucks is on these ones).
