Starbucks Forum:

While we are discussing hours and pay, does it seem fair to anyone that holiday time is paid at 1 1/2 times normal. Isn't double time the minimum standard for working on Thanksgiving?

don't know how it works in all countries and such, but my understanding is that starbucks pays holiday pay (which is the average amount of hours you would usually work from 4-8 hours) whether you work or not. if you work on top of that you get paid time and a half.

so the reality is, that if you are working you are getting paid double time and a half.

Not sure where you're from, toes, but it doesn't work that way in America. Starbucks pay 1.5 times your base salary for any hours YOU WORK on the major holidays. As far as I know, that's a pretty normal policy. Also, any stores open Christmas Day are completely volunteer-staffed, and baristas that work on Christmas get to split any tips made that day.

You seriously complain when Starbucks is nice enough to pay time and a half for holidays? They don't HAVE TO pay you any extra. They do it to be nice. Seriously, grow the fuck up.
